Melbourne's newest live music venue is opening with a massive launch weekend this July, as the former Gasometer Hotel begins its next chapter as Smith St Hotel - a neighbourhood pub and live music venue built for artists, locals and the community.

Located at 484 Smith Street, Collingwood, the venue has been brought back to life by acclaimed Melbourne chef and restaurateur Scott Pickett, who was determined to save the iconic band room from the very real prospect of redevelopment.

Rather than reinventing what made The Gaso special, Smith St Hotel will carry forward its legacy as one of Melbourne's most important live music institutions, preserving a vital performance space in the heart of Collingwood.

Live music programming will be led by Yours & Owls, with a calendar of local and international touring artists alongside emerging Australian talent. More than just a new pub, Smith St Hotel is committed to keeping live music thriving in Collingwood.

Smith St Hotel officially opens with a special Weekender on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 July, featuring two huge nights of live music to launch the venue's new era.
